Week 7 Recap

The countdown to this year's Around The Bay (ATB) is creeping up ever so quickly! Two things come to mind in anticipation for the event: gear preparation and race day (and also leading up to race day) playlist.

I mentioned last week that I am in need of replacing my daily trainers and I am finally narrowing down to the following in the order of preference to wildcards: (1) Asics Gel Nimbus, (2) Saucony Triumph ISO, (3) Hoka One One Clifton, and (4) Brooks Glycerins.

You may notice that I haven't specified which particular version it is as I am not particularly picky on obtaining the latest and greatest as long as it serves its core function. Training is meant for cautiously pushing for progress, so cushioning is paramount. It is either comfortable or not, alleviating foot pains and not doing the contrary. I was very fortunate to comfortably run in my incumbent Gel Nimbus 17 for most of last year pain free until recently when the normal wear is taking its toll on the soles. The second feel good purchase comes from Montreal based athletic hat-wear Ciele Athletics. They just updated their website this past week alongside with their spring collection for this year and when I knew I just had to cop myself their original Whitaker Edition FSTcap (Get It Here).  This is my second hat from alongside with my first TRLcap 'Century' Shadowcast Edition which is now mostly my nimble everyday hat/quick dash hat.

First and foremost, their branded emblems at the front and at the back are reflective. It is especially useful during the night runs up in uptown north of Toronto where the streets are not as brightly lit. The hat in combination with my LED headlamps ensures that I am well visible in the dark. I look forward to the summer months with these as the CoolWick material keeps your head nice and cool and pushes out sweat and moisture to the end portions of the brim. Mostly importantly, the SPF 40 protection certainly helps from further beatings from the sun.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, all product reviews are based from personal purchases and personal opinions only based on everyday practical usage

In the meantime, I just completed a tentative playlist set for next month and will be updated onto Playlist page at the beginning of next month. Here's a sample of what to expect right now and feel free to give me suggestions as to what else to put in the March playlist! My race day playlist on the other hand is in its initial stages and I will proudly share it in a few weeks time as it draws near to the ATB race! What you can expect from start to finish is an uplifting compilation of progressive trance featuring Gareth Emery, Above & Beyond, and other signature EDM DJs that's sure to not disappoint.

That's it for now, stay tuned for next week!

Cheers, MW
